Professional Designations

We maintain several of the top professional licenses in the Mergers & Acquisitions space, including Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) and Certified Mergers and Acquisitions Intermediary (CMAI). Requirements for the CBI include extensive continual course work through the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) and Mergers & Acquisitions Source (M&A Source)

Certified Business Intermediary (CBI)
Scott Claussen received his CBI designation in 2008. To hold this designation, business intermediaries must meet a variety of top-tier standards including continuing education, extensive examinations and active membership.

According to the IBBA, “A CBI is an experienced business broker who is committed to the highest level of professional development the industry has to offer and has ethical values aligned with the IBBA standards of professionalism. A CBI has the ability to objectively guide clients through the intricacies of the entire marketing and negotiation process of a business sale, resulting in successful transactions and satisfied clients.”

Certified Mergers and Acquisitions Intermediary (CMAI)
Scott Claussen also received CMAI designation. The CMAI is an exclusive designation where a group of selected top achieving intermediaries throughout the country were selected to participate in the extensive training to become a CMAI.  This specialist has a high level of educational hours, attending classes and seminars. Business Intermediaries with this certification must also have years of significant experience in the M&A field, showing success in numerous transactions.
